RCYC

The cross at the middle is made up of five equal squares. These squares represent the Committee of Five who established the International Committee of the Red Cross in 1863. The squares also represent five institutions of Red Cross namely: International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and International Committee of the Red Cross. The equal squares signify equality among people. The red cross with the white background came from the flag of Switzerland (white cross in red background). This is in honor of the Swiss businessman who is the founder and father of Red Cross: Jean Henri Dunant.
